WALL STEEL IS GOING ON THE SOUTHGATE HONEY SHED BUILD | JCB AND SONS
Wall steel is going on the Southgate Honey Shed Build | JCB & SONS. Was an exciting day today finally seeing some colour go on the Honey Shed Project. We really love how this new colour steel from
makes the building come together.
They Honey extraction room is being spray foamed. We installed the Typar House wrap to make a barrier between the spray foam and the new wall steel. The old building is being insulated with
Insulation and so this
on the old part with create a proper air barrier and create a sealed envelope.
The remainder of the old wall steel will be taken off and the new steel will cover the entire building. The old steel will be reused on the interior of the original building which will be storage and work shop for the honey business.
We installed this 2" x 6" board in the open web of the old building to create a spot to route the new wiring as their will be no ceiling in this part and all the wiring in the trusses will be exposed.
We had trims made to trim out the contractor grade steel insulated doors, making a nice clean transition to the new wall steel. The doors were installed with no windows to make blacking out the building easier when certain aspects of the bee keeping business require a dark working space.
This is the new utility room in the building. This is where the water comes into the building, the new 100 amp electrical panel, and catch basin for the extraction room gutter drain is located. It will be lined with plywood to make it easy to mount all the utilities, and the hot water tank will be located.
This door opening is ready for the new
insulated overhead door. We cladded all the interior with white steel to match the new liner and make a very clean surface to mount the new door track too.
CEMENT FLOOR INSTALLED IN SOUTHGATE HONEY SHED | JCB AND SONS
Cement floor installed in Southgate Honey Shed | JCB & SONS. We install the new cement floor on Tuesday for the Honey Shed Build. Thanks to the Eccles Family for pitching in on their project and helping get the cement into the building and having an amazing meal for us.
We installed a power trowel finish on this floor to make it nice and smooth for easy clean up and easy to roll equipment around on the floor.
The overhead doors, doors, windows,
insulation and the remainder of the lumber is on site and ready to go to complete this project.
New 2x6 walls which will be insulated are installed partitioning the extraction room from the shop/storage area. We also framed in a utility room and small 3pc bathroom. This will allow the water to stay on in the building without having to heat the whole building. There will be a floor framed above the utility/bathroom walls allowing storage space.
The
has a centre gutter drain to make equipment washing really easy. We also didn't power trowel the extraction room floor as smooth as the shop area as it will be getting an epoxy coating to keep the room easy to sanitize and also help protect the cement.
HONEY SHED IS READY FOR CEMENT IN SOUTHGATE | JCB AND SONS
Honey Shed is ready for cement in Southgate | JCB & SONS. The drains are all roughed in for our honey shed build. The ABS drains will remove waste water from the centre gutter floor drain which will go into the sump pail catch basin and than the water will leave in an overflow allowing the catch basin to be cleaned out. We also plumbed in drains for a double stainless steel sink in the extraction room and a full bathroom.
The new steel roof is completed allowing us a dry building to pour our new floor in the building.
We have installed Typar, which will keep things dry while we pour the floor. It will also be a barrier between the new wall steel and the spray foam insulation we will be installing.
The extraction room, utility room, and bathroom all have received 1.5"
(R7.5) under the new cement floor to make a really energy efficient building. This will make the building easy to heat, and cost efficient.
The Sump Pail is acting as our catch basin, all the water from the centre gutter drain in the extraction room come to this pail in the utility room and than exit the building. The overflow in the drain has a 90 degree fitting on it to allow the water out but not allow any gasses back into the building.
We can't wait to pour the new floor for this project.
